In order to fulfill the establishment of Asia-Pacific Traditional Medicine and Herbal Technology Network (APTMNET) and to organize exchange programs for promotion of traditional medicine development and technology transfer in Asia-Pacific region, The Executive Council for APTMNET was formed in the Expert Group Meeting for APTMNET in September 2003. The Executive Council is composed of representatives from Asian and Pacific Centre for Technology Transfer (APCTT) and participating countries. Two countries will be elected to take the Chairmanship and Vice-Chairmanship for the council.

The first term of the council will comprise of representatives from China as the Chairman, India as Vice-Chairman and APCTT as a member for a period of two years or until the next council is constituted. The country elected for the Vice-Chairman is expected to host the next council meeting of APTMNET and takeover the Chairmanship and then the new council will elect a Vice-Chairman. This pattern will follow until it is amended. The project coordinator of the main station in Wuhan China will be the member secretary of the executive council and will be responsible for the functioning of the APTMNET secretariat and the executive council. The Executive Council will provide the necessary guidelines and monitor the organization and administration of APTMNET in consultation with APCTT.
